The Monza opening round of the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series built on the success of last year’s inaugural season with a remarkable 55 car entry list. Monza had all the features of a modern classic with plenty of drama and changeable conditions on one of the world’s great historic circuits.
The season opener proved to be one of unexpected Belgian domination. While the leading Prospeed Porsche eventually dropped out of contention, fellow Belgian outfits Marc VDS (BMW Z4), WRT (Audi R8) and KRK (Mercedes SLS) stormed to an unlikely podium. Our photographer Georges De Coster was on site to capture a bucket load of rain and a sip of champagne.
