For the third consecutive year, Team FSE will head to Ypres to battle for the silverware in the Ypres Historic Rally on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June. Following back-to-back wins in 2010 and 2011, rally ace Robert Droogmans is looking to prolong his title once again.
Kurt Vanderspinnen’s team at Historic Rally Promotions will fly the flag for Team FSE with three generations of Fords; the Cortina Lotus, Escort MKI and Escort MKII.
Droogmans, who holds a record ten victories in both the originally Ypres rally and the historic version, will again go on the offence in the Ford Escort MKII, joined by co-driver Paul Coeck.
The Ford Escort MKI will be driven by Historic Rally Promotions team owner Kurt Vanderspinnen with Björn Vanoverschelde, while Steven De Bock and Nico Weyens return to the wheel of the Cortina Lotus.
Traditionally the Ypres History Rally is the theatre of an epic battle between the Fords and Porsches, but there are plenty of other beauties to provide a great mix of historic rally cars. A Talbot Sunbeam, MG Sebring, Audi QRS Quattro, Lancia 037 and a Morris Cooper are some of the more ‘exotic’ entries in the FIA category.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the weekend from Ypres!
